Raphaël Enard, known professionally as Raphelson, was born in 1974 in Lausanne, Switzerland. He started his musical career by taking guitar courses at the École de jazz et de musique actuelle (EJMA) in Lausanne. In 2006, he released his debut EP A New Heart under Gentlemen Records. His first full-length album, Hold This Moment Still, followed in the same year, showcasing his versatility by playing all instruments except for one track featuring a harp accompaniment. Raphelson performed live at the Montreux Jazz Festival with Fauve and the Sinfonietta de Lausanne alongside notable artists such as Sophie Hunger and Erik Truffaz. He also composed the soundtrack for the 1929 silent film The Fall of the House of Usher by Jean Epstein, which he performed live during screenings. His second album, Everything Was A Story, Story Was Everything, was released in 2012 and featured collaborations with John Parish, Erik Truffaz, Christine Ott, and others.
