2 Bad Mice, an English electronic music group formed in 1991, consisted of Sean O'Keeffe, Simon Colebrooke, and Rob Playford, the owner of the Moving Shadow label. The trio began experimenting with equipment in 1990 at Playford’s home studio, and their first chart success arrived with "Hold It Down", reaching number 48 in February 1992. The group’s early releases, including the album Hold It Down (31 October 2005), positioned them as pioneers of breakbeat hardcore, blending breakbeats into the hardcore sound and influencing the transition to jungle and drum and bass. In 1996, "Bombscare" entered the UK charts at number 46, and the newly formed Moshed label released remixes by Tall Paul, DJ Sneak, and Graham Gold. The track "Waremouse" featured in the 1997 film The Jackal. After the hardcore scene waned, the group ceased producing new material, although members continued solo projects: Playford as Timecode, O'Keeffe as Deep Blue and with Black Rain, and both joined Kaotic Chemistry. In 2020, 2 Bad Mice launched Over/Shadow, reuniting original Moving Shadow artists with new talent, reaffirming their legacy within the UK electronic music landscape.
