'Just to See You Smile (feat. Machaela Nesler-Scibilia) out September 12th
Born and raised in Macon, Georgia, a city with a storied musical heritage, Matthew Hope grew up surrounded by the sounds of storytelling and song. By age 13, he was already performing in the local bar circuit, sharpening his craft in the same city that produced legends like Otis Redding and the Allman Brothers. By 14, he was writing and recording his own songs, driven by both his family’s musical background and a deep passion for storytelling through music.
At 18, Matthew made the move to Nashville, determined to carve out his place as a songwriter and artist. His journey has been one of perseverance, scraping by through tough years, chasing opportunities, and never losing sight of the power of a well-told story.
Matthew’s songwriting is defined by honesty and heart. His songs often blur the lines of genre, rooted in Americana, folk, and country, but always driven by substance and truth. “I’ve always written songs from the heart, often inspired by everyday circumstances in my life,” he says.
In Fall 2025, Matthew enters a new chapter with two of the most meaningful releases of his career: a reimagined cover of “Just To See You Smile” and his long-shelved original “September.” Both songs, shaped by the loss of his mother, mark a season of reflection, healing, and a return to the purest reason he ever picked up a guitar: to tell stories that matter.
