Haywire is a Canadian rock band from Charlottetown that formed in 1981. The ensemble consists of the vocalist Paul MacAusland, the guitarist Marvin Birt, the keyboardist David Rashed, the bassist Ronnie Switzer, and the drummer Sean Kilbride. They achieved professional recognition with their debut EP, Haywire (1985), and are famous for their platinum-selling studio recordings Bad Boys (1986) and Don't Just Stand There (1987). The group won the award for best song at the World Popular Song Festival in Japan for the track “Dance Desire” (1987), which reached number 10 on the Canadian charts. Their discography includes the studio recordings Nuthouse (1990) and Get Off (1992), alongside the compilation Wired: The Best of Haywire (1993). Following a period of inactivity, the ensemble resumed activity in 2004.
