The American actress Diane Guerrero was born on July 21, 1986 in New Jersey. She grew up in Boston and stayed back in the USA alone at the age of 14, as her parents and siblings were deported from the country. Other Colombian families raised her and at the age of 24 she began to pursue an acting career. With her roles in the hit series Orange is the New Black (2012) and in Jane the Virgin (2014), she found a wide audience and developed her own fan base. She used her popularity to campaign for the rights of immigrants and published the book In the Country We Love: My Family Divided in 2016, in which she revisited her traumatizing family history and made it accessible to a wider audience. In 2021, she was part of the cast of the Disney production Encanto. The song "We Don't Talk About Bruno", written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, became a viral hit on the TikTok platform beyond the animated musical, reaching number 1 in the charts in the USA and the UK. The song also entered the charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. A second Encanto song with vocal participation by Diane Guerreros also became a hit in 2022. The duet "What Else Can I Do?" with Brookyln 99 star Stephanie Beatriz received a gold record in the States.
