Laurent Campellone, born on January 23, 1972, in Ollioules, France, is a conductor specializing in French opera. He studied violin, tuba, percussion, and voice, alongside philosophy at the Conservatoire Frédéric Chopin de Paris. In 2001, he won the First Prize at the 8th edition of the Concours International des Jeunes Chefs d’Orchestre de la Communauté Européenne Franco Capuana in Spoleto, Italy. Campellone has directed major institutions worldwide, including the Théâtre Bolchoï and Deutsche Oper Berlin. In 2004, he served as Director Musical of the Opéra et de l’Orchestre Symphonique de Saint-Étienne, focusing on rediscovering French lyric repertoire. Notable recordings include Offenbach Colorature (2019), which won a Diapason d’or and Diamant d’Opéra Magazine. Since September 2020, Campellone has been the Director General of l’Opéra de Tours, where he initiated programs like the "Chorale populaire" to promote cultural access.
