Joel Engle was born on June 3, 1968 in San Francisco, California. He is an American author, pastor, and former Christian recording artist. Engle studied music and theology at Oklahoma Baptist University, after which he began touring as part of Dawson McAllister's student conferences from 1993-1996. He released his debut album Surrender in 1999, followed by Nothing Left Of Me in 2001 and Louder Than The Angels in 2002. His notable songs include "Shadow of Your Cross", which reached Number 1, and top ten hits "Be A Father To Her" and "I Believe In You".
