Beatnik Beatch was an American pop rock band formed in San Francisco, California, during the 1980s. The group originally featured Chris Witt Ketner on bass, vocals, and viola, drummer Andy Sturmer, guitarist George Cole, and keyboardist Se Padilla. In 1987, the band released its debut studio album, At the Zula Pool, through the independent label Industrial Records. Following the group's signing with Atlantic Records in 1988, Roger Manning replaced Padilla on keyboards. The band subsequently re-released their debut material as the eponymous album Beatnik Beatch, which featured a modified tracklist with five songs removed and four newly recorded additions. This release included the 1988 single “Beatnik Beatch”. The group performed throughout the late 1980s before choosing to become inactive in early 1989. Following the dissolution, Sturmer and Manning continued their musical collaboration by forming the power pop band Jellyfish later that year. Ketner and Cole also continued to pursue various musical projects within the industry.
