Consolidated, an American radical activist music group from San Francisco, California, was formed in 1988. The band's original lineup consisted of Adam Sherburne on guitar and vocals, Mark Pistel handling samples, sequencers, and keyboards/synths, and Philip Steir on drums. Their debut album, The Myth Of Rock, was released in 1990, followed by extensive touring with Meat Beat Manifesto the next year. Consolidated's music evolved from industrial to hip-hop, hard rock, and funk, blending live and electronic instruments. Notable albums include Friendly Fa$cism (1991) and Play More Music (1992). The band was known for their politically radical lyrics addressing issues such as vegetarianism, women's rights, animal rights, racism, homophobia, and capitalism. Their live performances featured interactive audience participation and video montages. After 1994, the original lineup disbanded, with Sherburne continuing the project.
