The Primevals, a Scottish rock group formed in 1983, were influenced by bands like MC5 and The Stooges. Their original lineup included Michael Rooney on vocals, Tom Rafferty and Kevin Key on guitar, Malcolm McDonald on bass, and Rhod Burnett on drums. The band's first release was the self-financed single "Where Are You?" in 1984, leading to a signing with French independent label New Rose. They released their debut mini-LP, Eternal Hotfire, in 1984, followed by albums like Sound Hole (1986) and Live a Little (1987). The Primevals disbanded in 1988 but reformed multiple times. Their anthology album, On the Red Eye, released in 2005, compiled their work for New Rose. They have released significant albums such as There Is No Other Life and This Is It (2007), and Heavy War (2012).
