Florian Uhlig is a German classical pianist born on October 28, 1974, in Düsseldorf. He gave his first piano recital at twelve before studying at the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he was influenced by the work of Peter Feuchtwanger. Uhlig made his orchestral debut at the Barbican Arts Centre in 1997. Since then, he has performed with ensembles such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Dresden Philharmonic under conductors including Krzysztof Penderecki and Claus Peter Flor. Notably, he served as the final musical partner to baritone Hermann Prey. His extensive discography includes the complete works for piano and orchestra by Dmitri Shostakovich and the solo works of Maurice Ravel. Since 2010, he has been recording a multi-volume complete edition of Robert Schumann’s piano solo works, including the album Schumann: The Young Virtuoso. In 2014, he was appointed Professor of Piano in Dresden, followed by a move to the Musikhochschule Lübeck in 2019. Uhlig received the Robert-Schumann-Preis in 2023.
