Rowan Flack is a south London-based artist and composer known for her introspective and accessible contemporary jazz songs with contemplative lyrics and understated, clear vocal delivery. The BRIT School alumna delved into jazz at Trinity Laban Conservatoire and Grieg Academy (Sigrid, Aurora) in Norway.
Flack’s music has taken her to all corners of the globe, holding a two-month jazz residency at a Midai Music bar in Xiamen, China, working and studying with Norwegian free jazz players as well as keeping up her artist presence in London. Her first EP led to a large sold-out headline show in Bergen, Norway which featured in European leading press.
The artist’s sophomore EP entitled ‘Forest Fires is set for release on 22nd Feb 2024 and was funded by Help Musicians and was co-produced with producer, Andy Hughes (Eliza, Suede, Paloma Faith). It was recorded with established session players and fellow Trinity alumni. Collectively, the band has performed globally in various creative projects and scenes with the band playing for the likes of Olivia Dean, Matilda Homer, Judi Jackson, SEED Ensemble + Nubya Garcia.
Her music has garnered support from Wonderland Magazine disclosing that Flack is “quickly becoming a key figure in the UK jazz and soul renaissance”. Other notable press includes features in Notion, Atwood Magazine, Jazzwise, Earmilk, and Revista Brasileira. The artist is set to make waves on the UK Jazz scene in 2024, supporting Lusaint at Pizza Express Jazz Club, Chelsea and featuring as a guest vocalist within the Bossa Nova Songbook Group at Crazy Coqs, Brasserie Zedel.
