Michael Korstick, born April 30, 1955 in Cologne, Germany, is a German pianist. He began piano training at age nine and won his first major competition, Jugend musiziert, at 11. After studying under Jürgen Tröster in Cologne and Hans Leygraf in Hanover, he continued his education in Moscow with Tatiana Nikolayeva. In 1976, he became a scholarship student at the Juilliard School in New York. His career took off after winning several international competitions, including the Beethoven-Wettbewerb Wien and the Tschaikowski-Wettbewerb. Notable albums include Années de Pèlerinage III + Venezia e Napoli (2010), Beethoven: Piano Sonatas Vol. 9 (2008), and Claude Debussy: Piano Music Vol. 4 (2015). He received multiple awards, including the Echo Klassik in 2005 and the MIDEM Classical Award Cannes in 2009. He held a professorship at the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität in Linz from 2014 to 2022.
