Markus Wienstroer, born on June 24, 1959 in Düsseldorf, Germany, is a guitarist known for his work in rock and jazz. He began playing violin at seven and studied at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf from age eleven. Wienstroer has collaborated with various pop artists, including Andrea Berg, Wolfgang Petry, Claudia Jung, Roland Kaiser, and Heino. He was also a founding member of Family 5. From 1981 to 1985, he played with the jazz band Naima, followed by stints with Nashville Music Company and L.S.E. Notable collaborations include working with Tom Astor’s Band, Marius Müller-Westernhagen, Tommy Engel, Anna Maria Kaufmann, and Wolf Maahn. Wienstroer can be heard on Lalo Schifrin's Metamorphosis (1998) and Jazz Mass in Concert (1998), showcasing his skills as both a guitarist and violinist. He has been documented on over 40 albums and has also worked as a music producer, composer of film scores, and educator through masterclasses and workshops.
