Jerome Thomas Veleeparambil, known professionally as Jerry Amaldev, was born on April 15, 1939, in Kochi, Cochin State, India. He is a composer of film scores who has contributed to significant motion pictures in Malayalam cinema. Amaldev debuted in the Malayalam film industry with Manjil Virinja Pookkal in 1980, for which he won the Kerala State Award for Excellence in Music Direction. He worked as an assistant to Naushad before his debut and went on to compose music for around 75 films. Notable works include "Aayiram Kannumayi Kathirunnu" from Nokkethadhoorathu Kannum Nattu and "Manjanikombil" from Manjil Virinja Pookkal. Amaldev received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director three times. He also composed songs for Bollywood movies and conducted a musical ceremony during the Pope's visit to India. Amaldev disappeared from the Malayalam industry around the millennium but made a comeback in 2016 with the film Action Hero Biju.
