Black Roots, an English roots reggae band from Bristol, was formed in 1979. Their initial breakthrough came with regular performances across the UK and appearances on television programs like Channel 4's Rockers Roadshow. The band released their self-titled debut album, Black Roots, in 1983, and were commissioned by the BBC to record the theme song for the sitcom, The Front Line. They toured extensively throughout Europe, collaborating with artists such as UB40. Their album, All Day All Night, was produced by Mad Professor in 1987. The band's album, Natural Reaction, was released in 1990. After a hiatus of about ten years, French label Makasound released a compilation of the band's first two albums, and Black Roots returned to the music scene with live performances. Notable albums reissued during their comeback include In Session (2007) and the compilation album, The Reggae Singles Anthology (2011).
