Pert Near Sandstone, an Americana/Roots band from Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, formed in 2004 and quickly became a significant part of the local music scene. Their debut album Live: Just Outside of Sandstone was released in 2005, marking their entry into the bluegrass and country music landscape. The group gained traction with subsequent albums such as Up and Down the River (2007) and Needle & Thread (2008). Pert Near Sandstone's cover of "I Am the Walrus" from the album Minnesota Beatle Project, Volume 2 (2010) was inducted into Minnesota Public Radio’s Chart Show Hall of Fame in 2011 following its chart-topping success. The band continued to release critically acclaimed albums like Paradise Hop (2011). In 2015, they began curating and hosting the Blue Ox Music Festival in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, attracting top national and local roots and Americana artists.
