Pharis and Jason Romero, a Canadian folk music duo from Horsefly, British Columbia, met at an old-time fiddle jam and later married. Their debut album, A Passing Glimpse, was released in 2011 and won the Canadian Folk Music Award for New/Emerging Artist of the Year in 2012. The duo gained recognition with subsequent albums such as Long Gone Out West Blues (2013) and A Wanderer I'll Stay (2015), the latter winning the Juno Award for Traditional Roots Album of the Year in 2016. Their album Sweet Old Religion (2018) also won the same award at the 2019 Juno Awards, while Bet on Love (2020) secured the Juno Award for Traditional Roots Album of the Year in 2021. In 2022, their album Tell 'Em You Were Gold earned them another Juno Award for Traditional Roots Album of the Year in 2023.
