Dev the Band was formed in 2008 by a group of 4 teenagers studying at Italian High School in Istanbul, Turkey. Dev's early sound was rooted in alternative rock but in years grew into a mix of pop and alternative rock. Most of the group's initial material consisted of their own songs which also won several awards including, "Best Song", "Best Male Vocalist" and "Best Stage Performance" in the 2010 High School Music Competition. Upon High School graduation, the band continued their journey with two of the members Baran Bayraktar (vocal) and Kaan Metin (guitar).
While trying to find ways to bring new perspectives to Turkish music, the band met with Demir Demirkan in 2012. Demir Demirkan, who has had tremendous contributions to Turkish music production agreed to become the producer for their 2013 single "Dans Et" (Dance). Within a few months, in January 2014 the band released their first album "Akil Tutulmasi" (Eclipse of the Mind). Demir Demirkan acted as the music producer and as the backing vocal for many songs in the album. "Kac Kere" was selected as the lead single off the album.
