Stjepko Gut, born on December 15, 1950, in Ruma, Serbia, is a jazz musician and trumpeter known for his contributions to the genre. He studied at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern and Berklee College of Music in Boston. Gut's breakthrough came when he won first place in the first Austrian Big Band Competition as a conductor. He gained international recognition through collaborations with notable artists such as Lionel Hampton, Clark Terry, Benny Bailey, and Horace Parlan. Gut was a member of the Lionel Hampton All Stars for two years and performed extensively with various jazz greats. His discography includes albums like Somethin' Special (2004) and collaborations such as Louie & Clark Expedition 2. He has been a faculty member at the Graz Institut for Jazz since 1984 and conducted workshops worldwide, including at the Royal Academy Den Haag and the New School in NYC.
