Eithne Ní Uallacháin, born on January 10, 1957, in County Louth, Ireland, was an Irish singer and songwriter. Raised in an Irish-speaking household by her father Pádraig Ó hUallacháin, a teacher and song collector, Eithne Ní Uallacháin began singing at a young age. She married fiddle player Gerry O'Connor in 1978. Her first album Cosa Gan Bhróga, released in 1987 with her husband and Belfast flute player Desi Wilkinson, marked her debut as a recording artist. The duo later formed the group Lá Lugh, releasing their self-titled album in 1992. In 1995, they released Brighid's Kiss, which won Album of the Year from Irish Music Magazine in 1996. Eithne Ní Uallacháin took her own life on May 19, 1999.
