Sheena Wellington, born on 29 August 1944 in Dundee, Scotland, is a traditional Scottish singer. Her repertoire spanned from Robert Burns to contemporary songwriting, drawing from the rich Scottish tradition. Wellington's breakthrough moment came with her performance of "A Man's a Man for a' That" at the opening ceremony of the Scottish Parliament in 1999. Throughout her career, she released several acclaimed albums including Clearsong (1990) and Strong Women (1995). Wellington has toured extensively across Europe, North America, Africa, and the Far East. She is a passionate advocate for traditional music, playing a leading role in securing recognition and funding for Scotland's traditional arts. Her contributions have earned her numerous honors, including Doctorates from the Universities of St Andrews (2000) and Dundee (2006), and induction into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
