Haja El Hamdaouia, born in 1930 as الحاجَّة الحمداويَّة in Derb Sultan, Casablanca, Morocco, was a Moroccan singer known for her contributions to Arabic music and Chââbi. She began her career by choosing the Aïta style of music from her native Casablanca region, particularly focusing on Al Marsawiya. In the mid-1950s, she wrote a song denouncing French colonization, which led to her living clandestinely in Morocco before moving to France. Her notable songs include "Daba Yji," "Jiti majiti," and "Dada Ou hiyani." Haja El Hamdaouia was the first Moroccan woman to modernize Chââbi music and revolutionized the artistic scene during the early days of Moroccan television. Haja El Hamdaouia passed away on April 5, 2021, at the age of 91.
