Juan Carlos Romero, born on August 18, 1964, in Huelva, Spain, is a Spanish flamenco. He began playing guitar at eight under his father's guidance and later studied with Miguel "El tomate de Almería". Romero's early career involved accompanying prominent flamenco singers such as José Mercé and Chano Lobato. After winning the National Guitar Prize in Jerez de la Frontera, Romero collaborated with Manolo Sanlúcar, joining him in performances worldwide and on recordings like "Solea" and "Medea". Romero also played on soundtracks of films like Carlos Saura's Sevillanas and Flamenco. In 1997, he released his debut solo album, Azulejo, followed by Romero in 2004. In 2005, Romero received the Critics' Award in Spain for his contributions to flamenco music.
