Pedro Arroyo, born on November 7, 1957 in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, was a singer known for his contributions to salsa music. He began his musical journey at an early age, taking guitar lessons and performing with the Tuna Estudiantil del colegio at Colegio Sagrado Corazón de Guaynabo. In 1981, he formed his own orchestra called La Nueva and released their first singles "Embrujado con Puerto Rico" and "Lo que me gusta." He also participated in the telenovela Rojo Verano. In 1984, he collaborated with notable artists on the project La Máquina de los 80, which included Tito Gómez, Ray Barreto y su Orquesta, and Junior González. Throughout his career, he was nominated for the Premio Diplo as Orchestra of the Year in 1983 and won Songwriter of the Year at the Premios Paoli in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1991. Pedro Arroyo released numerous albums including Estoy Arrollando (1982), Vine Pa' Quedarme (1989), and Trópico (1990), which featured the hit single "He Decidido Olvidarte." Other notable LPs include Para Todo el Mundo (1996), Arroyando de Verdad (2001), and Etapas (2014). In the following decades, Pedro Arroyo took a hiatus from his music career but returned in 2023 with the single "Cuando Hablan las Miradas," followed by "El Águila" in 2024.
