Wolf Krakowski, born in 1947 in Saalfelden Farmach, an Austrian camp, is a Polish-Canadian Yiddish-speaking songwriter, singer, and guitarist. As a young man, he worked with the Conklin and Garrett Shows carnival and toured with blues singer Big Joe Williams. In 1996, Krakowski released his debut album Transmigrations/Gilgul on his own record label Kame'a Media, featuring traditional Yiddish songs in a blues-rock-reggae vein. The album included tracks like "Shabes, Shabes" and "Zol Shoyn Kumen Di Geule", accompanied by The Lonesome Brothers, starring roots-rock veterans Jim Armenti and Ray Mason. In 2002, he released Goyrl: Destiny under Tzadik Records, led by saxophonist John Zorn. Between these releases, Krakowski also put out the album Unbounded, which featured some of his own songs in English. He continued to produce music, including the 2006 release "Di Alte Kashe" (The Eternal Question: Fraidy Katz Sings Yiddish).
