Lina Pagliughi, born on May 27, 1907 in Brooklyn, New York, was an Italian-American opera singer. She moved to Italy as a teenager and began voice lessons under Gaetano Bavagnoli. Pagliughi made her operatic debut in 1927 as Gilda in Rigoletto at Milan's Teatro Communale. Her success led to performances across major Italian opera centers, including Turin, Venice, Florence, Rome, and Naples. She was acclaimed for her interpretations of Rossini, Donizetti, and Bellini repertory. Pagliughi also provided the singing voice for the titular character in the original Italian dub of Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1938. Her career included recordings for Cetra Records, such as complete operas like Lucia di Lammermoor and La sonnambula. She retired from the stage in 1947 but continued to be heard on Italian radio RAI until 1956. Pagliughi died on October 2, 1980.
