A lifelong rocker growing up performing with various bands in the heart of New York’s rock scene, Drew Hill’s songs on his album titled, “Rainbows” are the product of a lifetime of not playing by the rules.
Born to a house filled with music, Drew started singing and playing piano at age 2. Drifting through songs and artists over the years that moved him, Drew’s songwriting is unabashedly shaped by a lifetime of music from many genres…including some of the influences he has had the fortune to later work with. Each song on the album Rainbows is a story, an anecdote of sort, from a simple love sonnet (What Can I Say) to a personal revolutionary cry for human rights (OK?OK!) etc.
The title track (Rainbows) one which Drew considers his better works, tells a tale of a chance meeting of an institutionalized young teen girl who blissfully “sees Rainbows”, and her disgruntled, tired social worker assigned to her case. After a brief encounter, it isn’t long before the man realizes it’s actually he, in the trappings of the gloom of a societal norm, that finds it’s not her at all, but he whos eyes are closed to the colourful beauty of the world around him.
Drew is currently working on a yet untitled new album with anticipated release in February 2026. Again, very diverse from song to song, it’s a bearing of Drew’s soul in an honest sense. Until then, we hope you enjoy “Rainbows”, streaming right here on Deezer and on all media platforms except Spotify.
