Ángel Rada, born on October 9, 1948, in La Havana, Cuba, is a Venezuelan electronic music composer. He began his musical studies at age 13 under his uncle Gustavo Requiz Fernández. Rada joined experimental groups like The Gas Light and C.I.M. In the mid-1970s, he moved to Germany to study electroacoustic music at the University of Lübeck, where he encountered the Moog synthesizer from Klaus Schulze. He returned to Venezuela in the 1980s, founded Uranium Records, and released his debut album Upadesa in 1983. His 1980s work included albums like Viveka, Solar Concert for Bhagavan, and Impresiones etnosónicas. Impresiones etnosónicas marked a shift towards ethnosonics, blending traditional Caribbean, African, and Indian musical techniques with electronic sounds.
