Refugees of Rap, a Syrian-Palestinian hip-hop group, was formed in 2007 by brothers Yaser and Mohamed Jamous while living in the Palestinian refugee camp of Yarmouk near Damascus. Their early lyrics provided insights into life within the camp and criticized daily conditions in Syria. From 2007 to 2012, Refugees of Rap performed extensively across Syria, Egypt, and Lebanon. Following the Syrian uprising in 2011, their music became increasingly political, leading to threats and legal issues under the regime. In 2013, Yaser and Mohamed Jamous sought refuge in France after fleeing Syria. Their first album Face 2 Face was released in 2010, followed by L'Âge du silence in 2014. The group's third album, Insomnia, showcased a shift towards trap music and was released in 2018. Since their arrival in Europe, Refugees of Rap have performed over 155 concerts across multiple countries and collaborated with artists such as Tamer Nafar (DAM) and Linda Bitar.
