Gaitanes, a duo consisting of brothers Ricardo and Alberto Gaitán, originated from Panama. They began their musical career in 1989 with their first group, Impakto. The duo released their debut album Entrégate in 1997 and in 1999, they moved to Miami, Florida, where they worked under producer Emilio Estefan. Their second album, Alberto y Ricardo, featured the hit track "Taca Taca", which became Song of the Year in Chile in 2003. The duo won two Latin Grammy Awards in 2008 for their work on Gloria Estefan's album 90 Millas. Notable albums also include Monte Adentro (2006), dedicated to their homeland, and The Kings (2014). In 2018, they produced "Rise the Tide" in honor of the Panama soccer team's World Cup debut. Ricardo Gaitán was appointed Consul General of Panamá in Miami in 2019. Their ninth album, Imperdible, was released in 2024 and includes duets with Gilberto Santa Rosa and Rey Ruiz.
