Joseph Benjamin Geia (born 1959), known professionally as Joe Geia, was an Australian Indigenous and reggae musician and composer from Ingham, Queensland. An influential figure in contemporary Indigenous music, Geia performed with the Kuku Yalanji dance troupe in the late 1970s before studying at the Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music. He joined the band No Fixed Address in 1982, contributing to the album From My Eyes. Geia formed the bands Nya Nunga (1983) and Prince Nayh and the Slaves of Sin (1985) before joining the Shane Howard Band in 1987. He released the solo album Yil Lull (1988) on the Only Gammin’ label. He composed the song “Yil Lull”, which was recorded by Paul Kelly, Archie Roach, and Jimmy Barnes. Geia toured Europe with the Black Snake Orchestra in 1995 and released the albums Tribal Journey (1996) and Nunga, Koori & Murri Love (2005).
