Black Sun Ensemble was a psychedelic rock group. Formed in the mid-1980s, the group was led by Jesus Acedo. Their initial albums garnered rave reviews from Rolling Stone. In 1989, Black Sun Ensemble opened for Camper Van Beethoven on the Key Lime Pie tour. Their recordings include Black Sun Ensemble (1985), The Fish Album (1988), Lambent Flame (1989), Tragic Magic (1990), and Elemental Forces (1991). The band experienced a hiatus due to the mental illness of Acedo. Following a mid-1990s reformation, they performed at the South by Southwest festival and released Bolt of Apollo (2006). Acedo passed away in 2013.
