Vaiko Eplik is an Estonian pop-composer, producer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist born on August 1, 1981, in Rapla, Estonia. He formed the band Claire's Birthday in 1997 after receiving musical education at the Tallinn Music School. The group, later renamed Ruffus, won the Eurosong competition in 2003, representing Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Eighties Coming Back". Eplik performed in notable productions such as Jesus Christ Superstar (2004) and Evita (2009). Under the solo project Eliit, he issued albums such as 1 (2006) and 3 Kosmoseodüsseia (2008). He was nominated for the British Council's Young International Music Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2008. In 2010, Eplik won the Estonian Music Award for Best Male Artist. He produced and co-wrote several songs on Lenna Kuurmaa's debut solo album Lenna (2010). He composed the soundtrack for the animated film Suur maalritöö (2013).
