David "Dave" Sewelson, born in 1952 in Oakland, California, is an American jazz musician known for his work as a saxophonist, baritone horn player, harmonica player, and vocalist. He began playing the trumpet at age nine, later switching to the baritone horn and then the baritone saxophone. In 1978, Dave Sewelson moved to New York City's East Village, where he played with various avant-garde bands including the Microscopic Septet and William Parker's Little Huey Creative Music Orchestra. He released his debut album Synchro-Incity in 1979. Notable collaborations include Off Beat Glory with the Microscopic Septet (1986) and Flowers Grow In My Room with William Parker & The Little Huey Creative Music Orchestra (1994). Dave Sewelson's notable releases under his own name include Music for a Free World (2018) and More Music for a Free World (2020), as well as collaborations like Duck Walks Dog with the Dux Orchestra (2020).
