Jan-Heie Erchinger is a German pianist, keyboardist, and producer born on November 8, 1967, in Osterode am Harz. He studied jazz piano under Otto Wolters and graduated with a state exam in music in 1995. Erchinger established a professional career in 1992 with the duo Blue Knights, reaching number 10 on the Billboard NAC Jazz Charts. In 1994, he became a founding member of the group Jazzkantine, performing on eight albums and over 1,000 concerts until 2010. He also participated in the ensembles D-Phunk and the Bahama Soul Club. His recording career featured the solo albums Solo Piano (1995) and Rhodes (2003), alongside the live Solopiano series released between 2014 and 2020. Erchinger directed cultural projects including the collage Vicky Lu – Aufbruch in eine neue Welt and the children’s musical Kampf um Nussland. Additionally, he held teaching positions at Ostfalia University and TU Braunschweig and served as the chairman of the political party Die Haie beginning in 2019.
