Taras Hryhorovych Chubay, born on June 21, 1970, in Lviv, Ukraine, is a Ukrainian musician, poet, singer, and composer. Chubay's musical journey began at the Lviv Krushelnytski Music School, where he played violin. In 1984, he formed his first band, Cyclone, playing keyboard. In 1987, Chubay picked up the guitar and quickly wrote numerous songs, leading to his first performance. He then formed the cabaret group Ne Zhurys’ (Don’t Worry) with other figures from Lviv’s alternative culture scene. In 1990, Chubay founded the rock band Plach Yeremiyi (Jeremiah’s Cry), which became one of the most popular bands in newly independent Ukraine. Notable albums include Наші Партизани (2000) and Наш Івасюк (2003). In 2008, Chubay was awarded the title of Merited Artist of Ukraine.
