Hom Bru is a folk group from Shetland, United Kingdom, formed in 1978 who initially moved to Edinburgh in 1980 for touring across Europe. Their debut album The First Swig was released in 1978. In 1982, Hom Bru returned to Shetland and continued performing regularly. Notable albums include Obadeea (1982), featuring "The Unst Boat Song" in the old Norn language, and No Afore Time (2003). The band's lineup has evolved over the years, with key members including Gary Peterson on tenor banjo and mandolin, Brian Nicholson on guitar and vocals, Davie Henry on mandolin and vocals, and John Robert Deyell on fiddle. Hom Bru are known for blending traditional Shetland and Scandinavian tunes with songs sung in the Shetland dialect.
