Prashant Pillai, born on September 8, 1981 in India, is a composer known for his work on Malayalam-language films. After studying sound engineering in Chennai, he began his career working with A.R. Rahman and later moved to Pune to compose for ad jingles and short films. His breakthrough came in 2004 with a radio jingle. In 2007, Pillai scored the music for Bejoy Nambiar's critically acclaimed short film Rahu. His first feature film score was for the Malayalam movie Nayakan (2010), directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. Notable works include City of God (2011) and Shaitan (2011). He received the Best Music Director award at the 16th Asianet Film Awards in 2014 for Amen.
