Myraida Desireé Carmona Díaz, known professionally as Calma Carmona, is a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter born on August 27, 1984, in Bayamón. Her music blended soul and Latin soul with influences from artists including Sade Adu, Santana, and La Lupe. In August 2013, Carmona was named MTV Iggy Artist of the week. That same year, she opened for Beyoncé's The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour in Puerto Rico and released her debut EP, There's No Other Girl. In 2014, she released the singles “Bag of Bones” and “I Got Life”. Her subsequent works included the 2015 album Dancing in the Dark and the EP Presentiment. Also in 2015, she recorded a version of the Franz Ferdinand song “Love Illumination” for a Glenfiddich campaign, accompanied by the Scottish Opera Orchestra. In 2017, she released the album 100 Vidas.
