Daniel Lee Wall Jr., professionally known as Dan Wall (born 7 September 1953 in Atlanta, Georgia), was an American jazz pianist, organist and composer. He rose to prominence as a club musician in high school and studied at Berklee College of Music. His breakthrough came with the 1980 release Song for the Night on Landslide Records, followed by Route Two with David Earle Johnson and John Abercrombie (1981) and The Trio (1982). Dan Wall’s notable work appeared on ECM records during the 1990s, including While We’re Young (1993), Speak of the Devil (1994) and Tactics (1997) with John Abercrombie and Adam Nussbaum. He also recorded Golden Moments (Koch Jazz, 1997) and On the Inside Looking In (2000). In addition to studio work for film and advertising, Dan Wall taught at Oberlin College from 2001 to 2025 and died 14 April 2026 at age 72.
