The Drastics, a roots-oriented dub reggae group from Chicago, formed in December 2003 whose sound incorporated elements of hip hop, jazz, afro-beat, dancehall, and folk musics from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and South America. The band played their first show in March 2004 at Chicago's Fireside Bowl. Their debut album Premonition (2005) was released on Jump Up! Records and featured guest vocalists including Craig Akira Fujita and King Django. In 2006, they released a two-disc album titled Chicago Massive, which received a four-star rating from AllMusic, and included collaborations with various musicians such as Fada Dougou and MC Zulu. Subsequent notable releases include MJ a Rocker (2009) and Noir (2017).
