Jazz trombonist and vocalist Bob McChesney was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1956. He began playing trombone when he was in the fourth grade and would eventually create his own unique way of playing the slide trombone, which became known as ‘doodle tonguing.’ Relocating to Los Angeles, California, he became a session musician and played on albums by artists such as Barbra Streisand, Chicago, Michael Bolton, Shakira, Natalie Cole, Michael Bublé, Rod Stewart, and Michael Bolton. Bob McChesney has also appeared on Grammy Award-winning albums by Diana Krall, Ray Charles, and Arturo Sandoval. In 2000, Bob McChesney and his quartet released the album No Laughing Matter: The Bob McChesney Quartet Plays Steve Allen, which was written and co-produced by comedian and musician Steve Allen shortly before his death. Continuing to work as a busy session musician, he also found time to release the solo album Chez Says in 2015. Bob McChesney collaborated with his wife Calabria Foti on the holiday album Together For Christmas (2022), which featured classic holiday music as well as songs written by his wife including “All I Wanna Do For Christmas.”
