The Perth County Conspiracy was a Canadian psychedelic folk band formed in 1969 in Stratford, Ontario. The group's founding members included guitarist-singers Richard Keelan and Cedric Smith, along with Terry Jones, Michael Butler, and George Taros. They began performing in Toronto in late 1968/early 1969 and were known for their message-oriented lyrics and unconventional arrangements. Their singles "You've Got to Know" and "Uncle Jed" reached number 59 and number 76 on the Canadian charts, respectively. In 1970, they signed with Columbia Records and released their self-titled debut album The Perth County Conspiracy. The band's live album Alive was recorded in 1971. They remained active until at least 1977.
