Menzel Mutzke, a German trumpeter born on November 29, 1984, in Bad Säckingen, began playing the trumpet at age nine. He initially received classical training before studying jazz under Daniel Schenker in Zürich and later with Andy Haderer in Köln. In 2003, Mutzke won first prize at Jugend jazzt. After moving to Köln, he joined the Bundesjazzorchester under Peter Herbolzheimer's direction in 2005. He performed at various international jazz festivals including Jazz à Vienne and Montreux Jazz Festival, collaborating with artists like Dee Dee Bridgewater and Roy Hargrove. Mutzke also played with his brother Max Mutzke’s band and formed the group Bloom in 2011. His debut solo album Spring was released on May 29, 2020.
