Hanspeter Ammann, known professionally as Hanery Amman, was born on November 2, 1952, in Interlaken, Switzerland. He co-founded the Mundartrock band Rumpelstilz in 1971 and contributed to well-known Swiss songs such as "Rosmarie und I" and "Teddybär". After Rumpelstilz dissolved, Ammann pursued solo projects and collaborations. His final studio album Solitaire was released in July 2000, reaching number 76 on the Swiss Album Charts. The single "Déjà Vu" topped the Swiss Airplay Charts. In 2006, "Alperose", a song he co-wrote, was voted "Greatest Swiss Hit" by the Swiss television audience. Ammann continued to perform despite being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2007 and passed away on December 30, 2017.
