Joseph Cheng, born Zheng Yuan Chang on June 19, 1982, in Beitun District, Taichung, Taiwan, is a Taiwanese actor, singer, and model. He began his career as a model with Catwalk Modelling Agency and achieved success within a year. In 2003, Cheng made his acting debut in the Taiwanese drama serial The Rose, which marked the start of his acting career. His breakthrough role came in 2005 with It Started with a Kiss, a popular drama series throughout Asia. Cheng released his debut EP, Sing a Song, on October 2, 2009. The title track "Chang Yi Shou Ge" (唱一首歌) is a play on the third word in his name, Chang (暢), as a homophone of the word "sing" (唱) in Chinese. In 2010, Cheng represented Taiwan at the seventh Asia Song Festival.
