Born in England in 1970, Alex Garnett is a British jazz saxophonist, arranger, composer, and bandleader. Born into a family of musicians, he was originally classically changed when he was young, but was drawn to his father’s love of the saxophone and jazz. In 1993, Garnett became a full-time musician at the age of 23. He became an in-demand studio musician and live performer, working with Europe's leading big bands and jazz ensembles. He also became a top choice for American artists while touring Europe. During his career, he performed in over 30 countries and played venues such as the Blue Note and Birdland. Artists he’s played with include Jimmy Page, Wynton Marsalis, Doris Troy, Ruby Turner, Sam Moore, Van Morrison, Jools Holland and Charlie Watts (The Rolling Stones). In 2011, at the age of 40, he released his first album as leader: Serpent. He formed a band, which he dubbed Bunch of 5, and released the album Andromeda in 2015. Garnett continued to act as a sideman, both live and in the studio, and held a weekly residency at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Soho, London, England.
