Japanese-American singer Akino Kawamitsu, known simply as Akino, was born on 31 December 1989 in Okinawa Prefecture. She began her career in music with the band bless4 alongside her brothers Akashi Kawamitsu and Aiki Kawamitsu and her sister Kanasa Kawamitsu. In 2005, Akino made her solo debut with the singles "Genesis of Aquarion" and "Go Tight!", which served as the opening themes for the anime series Genesis of Aquarion. These releases marked a significant breakthrough in her career. Throughout her career, Akino has collaborated extensively with composer Yoko Kanno. In 2012, she released "Kimi no Shinwa ~ Aquarion Dai 2 Shou" and "Paradoxical ZOO", the opening themes for Aquarion Evol. She also contributed to various anime series, including Amagi Brilliant Park with "Extra Magic Hour" in 2014, Kantai Collection with "Miiro" in 2015, and Active Raid and Izetta: The Last Witch with "Golden Life" and "Cross the Line" respectively in 2016. Akino's work extended beyond anime, as she provided vocals for the song "Scream" in Final Fantasy XIV's Pandemonium Abyssos raid series in 2022 and the ending theme "Smile" for Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail in 2024.
