Del Rey, born December 22, 1959 in the United States of America, is a blues singer and guitarist. She began playing guitar at age four, influenced by musicians like Sam Chatmon and Memphis Minnie. In 1980, Del Rey started performing with Bob Brozman in Santa Cruz. She met Steve James in 1991, collaborating with him at the Port Townsend Country Blues workshop in 2001. Del Rey released her first album, Boogie Mysterioso, in 1993 under Hobemian Records, followed by Hot Sauce in 1995. Del Rey also developed the Women in American Music concert/lecture series, highlighting female musicians from 1900 to 1950s.
